Between 1970 and 1972, I was a member of the Manhattan College Orchestra. Somewhere between March and April of 1972, St. Joseph's College was host to a concert that included the combined voices of the St. Joseph's College chorus, the Manhattan College glee club, and the Emmitsburg community chorus. We performed a piece written by Dr. Howard Hanson, Song of Democracy. I have vivid and fond recollections of the concert and our stay at Emmitsburg. Most of all, it was at that concert that formed my lifelong love for the work of Dr. Howard Hanson and music for the symphonic band.

I was deeply saddened when I found that St. Joseph's closed in 1973, but I am delighted that I found this website and the strong SJC alumnae community.

Luckily my SJC room mate, Alhen Ehrensing Green, directed me to this site and I was thrilled to hear the recording of Howard's Ave Maria and, more importantly, the Alma Mater. A thousnd thanks to Sister Ann Higgins for arranging for these. It brings back such wonderful memories!

Blessings on Anne Higgins for recording "All Together"!

I connected with the web site after hearing of the death of Rev. Leslie A. Branch on June 22. He would be happy to know that he brought music to my ears!!

love to all of my classmates,
Ginny

I remember being in the chorus for the sesquicentenninal of St. Joe's. It was beautifull in poetry, prose and song! We performed it in the summer on campus but I fail to remember what month of 1959!
